Time to rebuild my diff. Again. Last done at about 60K miles. Now at about 100K miles, it needs it again. I'm going to hire a pro to do it right the first time. In theory.

So, I'm looking for something better than the clutch plate style LSD. I simply had the last one rebuilt to stock specs with aftermarket parts. But now I want something better.

The Detroit TruTrak /worm gear/Torsion is out. Great for my street/track car. Not so great on snow and ice.

I'm considering either the NoSpin, or the EZ Locker. I'm not overly worried about cost, as the differance between these two units is small. More worried about performance on snow and ice, and longevity in moderate use.

Any other suggestions?

Also considering lowering gear ratio from 3.92 to 4.11. But not sure I want to tear into the front diff.

This site might help you with your decision. http://www.offroaders.com/tech/limited-slip-lockers-differentials.htm

It gives a description of different units and how they operate. I installed and Eaton EAT in my Avalanche about 5 years ago and love it no problems as of yet. When I have to rebuild the rear in my 04 dakota I will replace the factory unit with an eaton also.

What is the EAT? I don't see that on their web site.

It looks similiar to the lsd unit on eatons page only when I bought mine it came with different rate springs you could install. Its a clutched base unit, I used the mid level springs when I installed mine. Like I said its 5 years old the lsd unit might have replaced it.

The Auburn unit I went with is stronger than stock, and works well in snow.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

I see. That's the one I had my eye on. A locker has certain advantages. But in the long run I think a better than stock LSD is going to work better for me. Thanx.

Besides, In another 1-2 years, I'll be trading it in for a new RAM ;)
