I have a 5.9 with a bigger cam and automatic transmission. Does anyone know what you do to make the transmission shift down to a lower gear under moderate accelleration. Unless I floor it, the transmission doesn't want to shift down to a lower gear. The torque is great in the 5.9 so it still skoots, but it would be a lot better if it dropped down a gear, got some more rev's and took advantage of the cam. I have the shift points set to 5200 RPM over the stock settings so it does great at WOT. But in midrange punches it likes to stay in a rather high gear.

Try looking into the "TV" cable. I'll bet you will find the answer.

Is that a joke? If not, what is the TV cable?

He is talking about the Throttle Valve cable. At least thats what I think its called.

The TV cable connects the Throttle to the transmission. This is what tells the transmission the change gears. If you adjust it one way it will change immediately. Adjust it the other way and it won't shift until full throttle.

The thing is once you figure out how it adjusts you make very very minimal adjustments and try it. you can get it to shift exactly as you like.
