hey any advice on diagnosing a rattle in the steering column? usually is bad when going over small bumps or washboard roads. i have checked the ball joints and they are fine. tires are good and all tie rod ends are fine. bushings have recently been replaced too.

everheard of this? could it be the rack and pinion? what about the linkages in the steering shaft?

thanks alot - doug

Try this first doug it was a TSB a while back. Drop the lower panel under the column then loosen (do not remove) the two column mounting bolts under the column and push the steering wheel down then tighten the bolts again. It may help to have a friend help you by pushing down on the column as you tighten the bolts, don't go crazy just lean on it and then tighten it. There is also another TSB for a body mount modification depending on the year and if its an extended cab
