 Subject: O/D light always on

I have a dodge dakota 1996 4x4 with the 5.2 litre v8 and the 42re tranny.

I just finished in the past days rebuiklding my tranny.

But when i put it back on the truck.

I can't seem to be able to take the overdrive off light off.

So the tranny doesn't shift into O/D.

Would this or could it be caused buy a lack of tranny oil in the O/D section of tranny since i drained it all .
