got my 01' 5.9 inspected and inspector reccomended i get my brake fluid flushed due to it being kinda dark in color.....130,000 miles on my truck....is this a waste of money?

just like any other fluid it has to be maintained. or it will eat your lines from the inside out.

Brake fluid absorbs humidity over time, which reduces it's boiling point
and lowers it's performance. (spongy pedal after hard braking).

It's cheap insurance to bleed the front/rear brakes anytime
you have to remove the wheels or after any work on the brakes,
as part of a simple 'while your at it' maintenance routine.

You can siphon out (leave some on the bottom) the master cylinder
with a clean 'turkey baster' tube, figure buying at least three quarts of brake fluid
for a complete system flush.

Safety is never "a waste of money"
