What causes that awful pinging noise??? Is it the gas I use when I use 87 or is it just the engine. My friend has the exact same year and engine but he says his doesn't do it.??????

Could be the 87 or the brand. Try one tank of Shell/Texaco/Amoco premium, then use the 87 from the same company afterwards. See if that helps.

Plenum Gasket Leak in your intake, bad plugs, not enough air intake, your friend could have had a ping flash that slows the timming down, etc.
Try using the autolite 3923 and a 180 stat, make sure your air filter is clean or get the K&N setup. Don't get the ping flash done, it makes your truck run like a dog.
