Subject: Replacement tires for winter driving

I have a 2000 Dakota 4X4 club cab. Tires that are on it now are Good Year Rangler RT/S size 31x10.50R15LT. My question is what are the best tires for wintertime driving and can i go one size bigger on my truck? It does have the stock suspension on it. It doesnt look like i can go bigger but just thought i would ask on here first.

Alot of people run BFG ALL TERRAIN and they seem to really like them. I use to run them and loved them, but thought I would try the Cooper STT this time, so for they are great in the mud and well behaved on the pavement, but havent tried them in the snow yet.

Thanks. I have looked that those tires at my local walmart and they want about $150.00 per tire for everything. I need to replace all 4 at once because of the 4 wheel drive in the truck.

I'm one of those BFG fans - been plowing with them for many years. For the best winter traction, you'd be much better off going down a size; 30x9.5 15, or 235-75 15. Both about the same size, a little deeper tread on the 30x9.5. Or just keep the same size; if you're not out for max traction like me.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

I'm not a big fan of the BFG All-Terrains - the Mud Terrains I like though. I have a set of Maxxis Buckshots on my '84 full size that will go thru anything snow or mud related and aren't very noisy at highway speeds. When my GY RTS's are worn down on my Dakota I'm thinking of a set of the Buckshots.
