Subject: Gibson Exhaust?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a '06 Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 4.7L Night Runner Edition and am thinking about putting dual exhaust on it. I am looking into Gibson. Not sure what style to use yet, but was wondering if anyone has put Gibson exhaust on their trucks like this and what they thought about the installation and the sound/performance.

Thanks

I have not put one on my 04 Dakota, but do have it on my Avalanche and my dad's Explorer both vehicles showed improvement in low end torque, and a little at the higher rpms too. I personally think they are a little to quiet, they have a rumble when your outside the vehicle, but you cant really hear it inside.

I have the 3" single swept side on mine - stainless for longevity and a little rumble without making it an obnoxious cop magnet. Installation was easy. You'd probably see more of a performance gain replacing the y-pipe; or with several other mods that work well for the 4.7.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

Hmm, but does it provide a nice stable tone without excessive rasping or a burbling sound like half the other fart rockets out there?

I have an 02 4.7L Dak quad cab, and though I'm not looking to wake the neighbors every time I start the truck, I KNOW that engine could be making much better music than it is. If volume's the only problem with them I may turn my eye to some Gibson setups.
