I have a 2000 4.7L 4x4 and yesterday it would not start. While driving to work, the truck stuttered for a second, the engine light came on, then would not start after I turned the ignition off. Fuel pump sounded like it kicked on when the ign. was turned on however the truck would not start. Turned over as normal but no start. Checked battery and all electrical conections and everything was okay. Today i looked at it again, disconnected the air intake setup (z-tube) and it started and ran perfectly.Reconnected everything after it was running and had no other problems. Anybody know what could have caused this? Very worried about driving it long distances. Thank you for any responses or help!!

you need to find out what code tripped the CEL. turn the key on/off/on/off/on and codes will display in the odometer. they'll look like P0123 and when done it will read Pdone.

Thanks, but I reset the computer after the initial problem to see if the engine light would come back on and it didnt. I tried to do what you said and it wouldnt work. Guess Ill have to wait until the light comes back on again. Also, the truck now takes several more seconds to turn over than before, but when it starts it runs great.
