has anyone had a problem with windshield wipers wiping once across the windshield even though the wiper switch is in "off" position? every so often my wipers make one swipe across the windshield even though the switch is off. it started as maybe once a week and is now up to several times per 1/2 hour of driving time. my dakota is a 2002 4x4 sport quad cab with v-8, 5 speed tranny. the wipers work fine when the switch is on. do i just need a new switch or is something bigger going on?

never heard of that one, sounds like the switch might be bad. I would see if it is not to expensive to replace.

From what I've heard, there could be many possibilities. I had a slightly different problem, with odd intermittent operation - once in a while, I'd get some extra wipes out of it. This was while it was still under warranty, but I couldn't get it fixed, because it wouldn't do it for the dealer. They said there was something like 7 different components that could be respnsible (switch, body control module, who knows what else) and they couldn't replace any without identifying the problem. Fortunately, it now does this less than it used to - but my point is just that it might not be as simple as just replacing the switch. Good luck...
