hey guys, anyone have an 03 4.7 v8 that's changed the plugs, looking to attempt for first time on truck. From the looks, a little complicated to get to some of the plugs. Any advice or suggestions as to which brand and installation would help. Thanx

As far as installation, remove the air box from the TB, also you may need to loosen the bracket that holds the a/c lines, be carefull not to try to move it too much.

There's plenty of threads from larry from J & J auto on here, do a search (mark.dodgedakotas.com) and you'll see why he recommends the plugs he does.

Just did mine - an 04. No sweat compared to the older styles where the plugs are by the exhaust manifolds. I like the 4.7 plug locations. Air hat has two bolts, one electric connector, one hose, and I lifted the whole thing off with the top of the air filter box; one hose bracket each side at the front and pop the heater line clips up half way back. All bolts/nuts on mine are metric 10mm.
Only plug a bit tight is #8.

I replaced the plugs with original copper Champions. Best of service and mpg out of them. Best yet 21mpg hiway.

Just curious,

What did they look like when you took them out?

Like they needed it?

On my 2001, 4.7, I replaced the stock ~75,000 miles, only cause I was in the neighborhood while installing my HO cams,

The original plugs looked brand new, no wear, etc!!

Oops, actually, it was when I installed the HO intake, which came about a year after my HO cams, at ~75K.

Not to hard of a job if your mechanically inclined. Make sure to put a little anti-seize on the new plug threads also before installing.
