A few years ago i was stationed in Germany. I had my 97, 3.7L 4x4 Dakota up to 105mph on the Auto bahn.
Only did it once because it was scarey as hell. That truck was damn near jumping over every bump in the road. I think it could have gone faster...but the wife was freakn out and made me slow down.....lol.
just my 2 cents.

I kind of figured that the QC's had the 2-piece. I know that the CC's had a 1-piece. Also, this is the second time somebody has said that their '97 had a 3.7 in it. Unless somebody else put it in there, you have a 3.9.

Finally... a V8. '01 Dodge Dakota RC, 4.7, 5-speed, 3.92 LSD. = R/T Killer.
well at least a stock one

shoe, it's surely just a typo. i'd like to think that people would know what size engines their vehicles had in them.

OK, I was beginning to wonder. I like the 3.7 and the 3.9, but was getting weirded out.

Daddio and jp- I have a single piece driveshaft in my 2000 Quadcab. I don't know if yours is 2x4 or 4x4. Mine is the 4x4 4.7l witha 45rfe tranny and a NP231HD transfer case. Maybe the two wheel drive QCs have the two piece, haven't been under one though.

wylman, if that's the case my statement is false. it should have read all 2wd because mine is a 4x2.

if mine was a 2x4 it would be rough! LOL

Maybe, I don't know what you mean by two piece. I was just under mine tonight changing the oil and I took a look, looks like one big driveshaft from the transmission to the differential.

I'll check again.

Mine is 2wd as well.

01, Quad Cab, 4.7 MANUAL ( you drive an auto?), 2WD, LSD, etc.
And the drive shaft is one piece, connected to another piece, to the diff.

That's what is called a two piece driveshaft.
Rolls off the tongue a lot better than "one piece, connected to another piece", eh ?

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

I have an 02 4.7 CC dak sport and I can confirm the turn the key trick. my limiter is set at like 112-115ish and once i turned the key i pegged the needle in no time. This also works on the rams as well.
