Besides my 93 Dak I own a 98 Ford Windstar and I need to know if there is a good spark plug out there for my Ford.

I have put the 3923's in my 318 and it is unbelievable the amount of difference it makes.

I also would like to what the difference is between platium and copper core plugs. Also what the advantages and disadvantages of each in my van.

Thanks.

You'll find top performance when you use Autolite sparkplugs.
The correct plug for your application is the 765 gapped at .054.

Platinum sparkplugs will last longer due to less erosion of the ground and center electrodes. Autolite's fine center wire electrode allows for a larger spark kernel thus ensuring complete combustion. No wonder Autolite is America's fastest growing line of sparkplugs!

Try a set today in your Ford and notice the difference in performance won't you?

From bumper to tailight, you are always right with Autolite.

Correction.

Autolite is NOT a Ford product. Autolite was owned by Ford from 1961 to 1973. Currently, the brand is owned by Honeywell.

Nor is Autolite junk my three dot friend. Autolite was a pioneer in the sparkplug business and is one of the most respected names in sparkplugs today. They are the official sparkplug of Nascar. Moreover, Autolite offers more sparkplugs covering a greater range of vehicles than any other brand.

But don't take my word for it. Try a set for yourself and marvel at the new found performance from your motor. Rest easy knowing you will gain greater fuel economy yet enjoy faster starts, smoother idle and better performance.

Start right, use Autolite!

Good night.

BlackDakRacer, your attitude must be the result of a poorly running engine. Perhaps you spend too much time attacking others when you should be considering changing your worn out OEM sparkplugs with a set of Autolite resistor sparkplugs.
I think you will benefit in many ways by having a motor that starts easily, idles smoothly, and has good pep and performance. Plus, the time you spend maintaining your vehicle will give you less time to attack people on message boards.

From bumper to tailight, you are always right with Autolite!

I installed the platinum 765 plugs today and WHAT A DIFFERENCE. The original plugs had about 70,000 miles on them and were at about .090. I am surprised that the van was running. THANKS Harlow!!!

I usually observe these boards, spreading the good word about Autolite sparkplugs. Folks like BlackDakRacer have really made me feel welcome here.

I hope everybody will take the time to install a set of Autolite resistor sparkplugs and experience the power and performace that shadetreenut has now on his minivan.

Start right, switch to Autolite!

i have a sparkplug question for ya...

i have a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero with the 3.4 V6 in it. It has the factory platinum spark plugs that arent sceduled for a change until 100,000 miles. Do you have a spark plug that would compete with that? I dont want some sorta "start right with Autolite!" answer, i am looking more for a technical one.

thanx again,

Dak 39 , the plugs in your Alero still need cleaned and regaped every 30 k acording to the owners manual. AutoZone has the OEM AC Delco plugs in stock, theyre a little pricey at 7.69 a piece. I sell a ton of Bosh platinums at 1.99 and havent had anybody bring them back whining that they want theyre money back. Being a GM/ASE/Jeep
master journeyman tech for more years than i want to admit, I'm a firm believer of OEM plugs. just seems to make my tuneups last longer when i put "factory brand" plugs in what i was working on. and yes I sell a bunch of the 7 dollar plugs too. Hope this helps.

Hey Harlow,
I installed a set of 5224's into my 4.7 Dak and woooah!!!! I never knew that new plugs could make it run that much better! I mean the crappy Champions had a jumpy idle and bad throttle response (the gap had opened 0.05 after 30,000), but these have a perfect steady idle and really crisp throttle response. As soon as I installed them I had the truck dynoed and it pulled 199.1 hp and 176.4 torque. So thank you Harlow for sending me in the right direction for my plugs!

Use the factory gap of .040 if your 5.9 is still fairly stock.
