Subject: 2000 4.7 Heater Hose Replacement
IP: Logged

Message:
I am planning to change out my coolant, and replace the radiator/heater hoses. The upper hoses appear to be standard heater hose with standard connections between the firewall and the metallic tubes that run across the top of the engine. On the other end of the metallic tubes, a short span of heater hose is again used to connect to the engine. However, these hoses are integral to the metallic tubes! To replace them would require replacement of the metallic tubes as well. I'm sure these would be a dealer only item, and very expensive. Has anyone ever replaced these hoses?

you can replace those hoses but you have to cut the aluminum crimp that keeps hose connected to the line and then just use hose clamps to hold the new hose on.... i myself really wouldnt suggest doing that but it can be done if its a last resort.... i would just do to the dealer and get the replacment which is the whole assembly....

I called the local dodge dealer to inquire about the metallic heater tubes with the crimped rubber hose ends. The guy said he couldn't find a listing for these parts. They only had a listing for upper heater hoses between the firewall and the tubes. Of course they wanted $30+ for each, and these sections are just standard heater hose.

At this point I'll just plan on replacing the radiator hoses, and upper heater hoses. Apparantly the lower heater hoses are designed to last the life of the vehicle....
