Subject: Porting stock ex. manifold

Hey Now!

Well two of the screws that hold on my passenger side exhaust manifold snapped the other day so I had to replace them. While I had it off I noticed the inside was very rough, pitted, and had alot of carbon build up inside. So I whipped out the dremel and cleaned her up! Thats when I remembered that the drivers side was still attached. So I did that one as well.

I've only been driving it like this for one day but I definitely feel a difference.

Anyone else tried this?

Normally you port the heads and not the exhaust manifolds. The exhaust ports on the heads are smaller than the ports on stock manifolds or headers.

Todd, he has the 4.7

Guess I will need to look inside them extra 4.7 manifolds I have and see how rough they look.

1hotkadota, did you really FEEL a difference? That is crazy. But who knows.

Dude I'm retarded, I didn't port it, I just smoothed out the inside. Like I said there was a lot of carbon build-up and if you look at the inside, it is really coarse.

As far as a difference, YES! My top end really used to suck, but now it feels faster, like its breathing easier. Not much faster, but what else can you expect?

If anyone wants to see what the inside of their manifolds look like, just look at the outside. The inside is just as bad if not worse. I know that when you buy headers, the inside of those are smooth as glass.

Also I couldn't reach all the way to the back of the manifold and around some of the corners, so I'm sure there is still plenty of room for improvement.

Try it if you want. I like it. And it will probably work better than the IAT mod.
