Subject: Exhaust System?

I am about ready to get an exhaust system for my 2001 dodge dakota crew cab. it has a 4.7L. i was thinking about going with Gibson or Flowmaster although i can not seem to find the system for flowmaster. i am new to this and someone suggested to get a mid pipe in addition to the cat-back system. any ideas where i can find the mid pipe for the Gibson or Flowmaster?

Not sure about the mid pipe idea...don't know what that would do for you.

I just installed the Gibson Extreme Dual Sport on my 04 4.7L Dakota. I think the main difference between the Flowmaster and the Dakota will be the volume. My understanding is the FLowmaster is loud as hell. My brother-in-law has a flowmaster on his Monte Carlo and you can hear that thing from a mile a way (sounds sweet though). The Gibson will give you a sweet new tone and enough new volume. I would recommend the Gibson unless you want extreme volume.

by midpipe i am assuming you mean the "y" pipe? most on here agree it is the most restrictive piece in the factory exhaust. try JBA or i think Magnaflow.

Help me out here. I have a 01 slt club cab with 4.7. I found a hole in the muffler, so I wanted to install a true dual system. Since the fuel tank takes up all the room on the drivers side, how is it possible to run 2 pipes, mufflers and cats?

I have an '04 1500 Ram, same as a Dakota the fuel tank prohibits any exhaust pipes on the left side.

Simply run the duals along the RH side, dont forget a balance pipe or 'connector' to balance pressure since one pipe will be longer than the other.

To simplify my exhaust system, I run a dual in / dual out BB II 70 series Flowmaster muffler.

A 'good sounding' exhaust tone doesn't have to be loud, (and most loud exhaust dont sound good either..)

I have a dual setup where the driver side downpipe from the manifold actually runs down the drivers side over the cross member then turns under the transmission and runs to the passenger side where it meets with the other pipe into an X pipe and then 2 flowmaster 40's mounted vertically side by side. It is an X pipe system from spintech mufflers and it is awsome.

i am going to be picking up the Hearthrob dual glass-pack exhaust system. it's almost half the cost of Gibson or Flowmaster and i've heard nothing but good things about it.
