Subject: R/T Leaning to the left...
IP: Logged

Message:
I just bought a 2001 R/T 5.9 in great shape. Truck drives great and makes no wierd noises when turning or anything like that... But the truck's front driver side is about 1 inch lower than the rest of the truck.. I have inspected the springs and they appear to be the factory ones and have not been cut. So do you think that the spring has collapsed or worn out. Im a humvee mechanic in the army and this sometimes happens but Im new to dakotas... Thanks for your replies..

i'd check for a bad/ leaking shock or frame damage. unless there is a different size wheel/tire on that side

a sized shock could make your ride hight change if seized up fully extended but if it leaked down and lost pressure ride hight wont change.... a bad spring yes will make it lean to one side.... over time a coil spring can weaken and lower down... also the spring could have broke around the top spring pocket and you cant see the broken coil at the top and that too will make it lean....

Also, the possibiltiy of the repeated weight of a Big Boy driver, w/o a passenger, could have worn it out.

Also could be a weak right rear leaf spring allowing the truck to tilt forward to the left front.
