Subject: Source for rebuilt 4.7 head(s)

I've got my neighbor's '01 4.7 apart because it was running hot and using coolant. Found deep corrosion on the RH cylinder head between the combustion chambers. I could have it welded and rebuilt locally - But I'm sure there are rebuilt heads out there for less money. Anyone used a specific cyl. head rebuilder/supplier with good luck? I'm in the Chicago/Milwaukee area but nationwide suppliers are fine. I've checked the internet and found a couple for $275/$300 per head. Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Steve H.

Well I just went out to the garage and looked at the head again. It's hard to measure the depth of this because it's not very wide. I'm thinking 20-30 thousandths (not the 50-60 I had thought earlier). Still a little deep to just surface. And surfacing that much might affect valve to piston clearance, compr. ratio, cam timing, etc. I am going to have the local shop check them... he might surprise me with his recommendation.
