 Subject: radio wire harness

i am adding an aftermarket radio and i am having trouble with the wiring. the generic wire harnesses from the store don't match up with wires comming from the vehicle. if i do hook it up the way it should be i get no sound, for the most part everything else is ok(illumination, etc..) so i was wondering if someone had the schematic to tell me what the wires that come from the truck represent. any help would be great

does your truck have an infinity factory system.... if so.... you have to take the wire that is the to the factory AMP and splice that to the amp remote line to the aftermarket radio.... then you'll get your sound.... dont know the wire color off the top my head its been awhile sence i did the one in my dakota when i had it befor i got my durango and havent switched it all over yet....

where would the amp be located? i dont think i have the infinity set up. the factory radio doesn't say infinity anywhere on it. i have a 2001 r/t.

coming out of your new radio there should be a blue wire. this is your remote wire. splice it into the blue wire on your wiring harness.

the factory radio wont say Infinity.... look on your door panels in the upper corners for tweeters they'll say infinity on them.... my 02 durango doesnt say infinity on the face plate but its got the tweeters on all 4 doors that say infinity... the factory harness for the amp wire is blue that should meet up with the blue wire on the aftermarket radio... i did this on my 99 dakota.... i took the blue wire from the factory harness and hooked that to the power antenna wire cause i used the amp remote line from my alpine to turn the amp on... well when i switched from radio to CD i lost sound.... called alpine and he told me i had hook both wires to the amp remote line....
