my first turbo was off an 92 or so chevy 6.5L diesel. people kept saying it wouldnt work but it actuall work well. but not as good as the t04 i have now. nice thing about that (gm3) turbo it had an internal waste gate. i didnt use it, just welded everthing closed.

Yeah LOL! Lots of people on here said it was TOO BIG when I got it from rammer's brother.

So rammer finally took it from me and we put it on his truck.

Then you find out the DEISEL turbo, even tho form 6.5 liters, is SMALL for a 5.2 GAS engine ha ha ha!!!

It spooled really quick. But would have held back from max boost. The T04 is BIG in compare to that GM-3

So sometimes you get mixed feedback form ppl on the internet.
While you also get a lot of GOOD info. You have to try things as well.

My suggestion would be that you read... ALOT!!! Its not to complicated...but the tuning is more than half the troubles.

Old setup: 1/4 mile on old setup: 13.965 @ 100.10 MPH, Crappy 2.236 60' on street tires
Mods: Paxton NOVI 2000 supercharger @ 10 #'s, M1 4Bbl, F&B 58mm TB, Gibson headers, JBA Y-pipe, and a Locker

Yup. For Rammer and I we fab stuff up from scrap metal when we need it.

The TUNING is what's now kicking our a$$ on his truck. but still. For $1k his truck is a good 2 full seconds FASTER in the 1/4. I am sure when tuned better, it will shave another .5 sec

What other $1k in mods can do that?

Speaking of fabrication:

There's Rammer helping me bolt in the baby turbo on my 350cc ATV.

During Labor day weekend, I had to do a temporary PULL THROUGH with the stock carb to be able to ride it at the Cinders. It never was tuned enough to make good power even though it had 8PSI boost easy. It ran BETTER at 1/4 throttle giving me boost like I had 1/2 throttle before.
It was sucking oil from the turbo this way too.

But that was all temp because I knew what I was going to do in the end.

Fast Forward to recent and I am in the works of EFI on the ATV.

After a month of learning some Assembler language and more on PIC Micro contollers (from some very helpful guy I met on the internet) I've got the thing running from a single 20Mhz Micro controller. The only feedback is the MAP so far but I've got the lookup tables programmed close enough already to run. The other IC Chip is a comparitor to send the trigger from the Cam Sensor I installed.

Now I'm removing the temp stuff (like zip ties on fuel injectors) and am fabricating the fuel rail, regulator, etc all from junk yard parts.

I hope to be riding this weekend for some first tests of the EFI. And I'll have to bring my lap top with me to TUNE it.

Talk about fabrication! I've had to do the turbo AND the fuel injection from scratch!!!

anyway. thanks about the welding/fab stuff. some people give me crap if I don't grind every weld! It takes a lot to make all the flanges and what not from scratch! it can only be so pretty. :)
