Boy did I make a huge mistake at buying a Chrysler. My buddies told me to look at all the black dots in COnsumer Reports...but noooo...I said Dodge must be good. Ya....Right!
10,000 miles, it got a new transmission
15,000 miles it got a new steering box
20,000 miles it got a new steering shaft
20,000 miles it got a new radio
It has also had new front sway bar bushings, rear sway bar bushings, seat mount

Glad I bought a Chrysler........... :-(

Well at the other side..

my truck is a 96 with 142,000 miles

Engine has never been touched expect for just now when I blew the head gaskets out

Tranny is original

ball joints are original and hold grease

All the steering components are orignal.



1/4 mile: 13.9 @ 101 on street tires.

My Dak is a 92 LE. 318 with 202,000 miles and still running strong. Just wish the gas prices weren't soo high here in Rochester NY. I have had to change the tranny at 160,000. New ball joints at 198,000. Overall, im very please.

Some cars are just like that. Sometimes it depends upon what day of the week they were built, Mondays and Fridays having the worst problems. My 99' dak had the driveshaft u-joint yoke break in the 1st 2 weeks of normal driving. The AC compressor after 1 yr, the intake manifold replaced, and the rear end gears broke. All on warranty or extended warranty. And it just has 42,000 miles on it and has not been raced or mistreated-just normal driving. :(

my pops has got a 95 ram 4x4. its got the 360 and pretty much every option you could get back then. 222000 miles eight now and all its got is a new tranny,new front end at 120k "wheel bearings, ball joints, etc" just cuz he figured might as well do it all. not motor work ever done. still can drive cross country if we wanted. i love that truck. learned how to drive in that thing at 6 lol

My 2000 5.9 4x4 quad cab has 120,000 miles. So far I've had to replace the thermostat and one set of pads and rotors up front. That's about it.

I have 3-1989 daks 1-1994 dak and one 1998 dak and all three of the 89 have over 250K on them with no engine work done the 94 has 146k and no probs and the 98 has 135k and no major repairs at all, I would buy another one in a heartbeat.You just got some bad luck there spotty.Over the last 7-8 years i dont think i have spent more than a thousand bucks on even minor repairs,not counting brakes and tires and stuff.The daks have been the best trucks out there for me.

Guy at work has an 00 qc 4.7 auto. Has 172 thousand miles with no major problems,same tranny. He does have a bad pcm(P0601) but it still runs good even with that and a 100 thousand on his plat plugs. No exhaust smoke yet either.

Wow thats alot of problems. I have an 03 with 28,000 miles and no problems. I even give it 100 shot blasts of nitrous now and then. Usually 50 or 75 on the street. I always drive it like I stole it too. Sounds like you just got a lemon.

Mine I drive really hard and work it more than it was designed.

The worst things to break was the driver side power window cable drive. Which I fixed a few times now. But offroading may have had something to do with it breaking. And the ball joints just after warranty. Surprise there LOL!

And this week my blower stopped blowing out of the middle vents. This was yesterday and I needed it to blow since my baby was in the back seat.

After laying under the dash for a few minutes watching what did what, I noticed one lever connected to this cammed disk thingie never moved. I reached in there and moved it with my finger and the vents now blow. Looks like a plastic piece broke that rides in the plastic cam thingie. Oh well...


On our 2004 Grand Caravan it gets mostly used by the wife to go to work. And some out of town trips. It's at 40k miles as the Dak. So far it's had three front disc brake chages, (second and 3rd time because DuraLast by AutoZone don't like our van) and one change out in the rear Disc.
The passenger side window got changed out by warranty as well as the entire rack and pinion.


On a GOOD note. It's a SOLID piece of metal those vans.
Near head on collision with a Chevy Cavalier and the Cavalier was totalled, broken axle and all. The Caravan cracked a headlight lense and ripped the plastic. The metal bumper behind the plastic not even tweeked.
