Subject: How much power do you have?

I am looking to swap in a V8 in my truck but I was wondering what kind of HP, TQ, and MPG everyone was getting. I plan on buying a remanufactured 5.2L and putting a performance intake manifold, headers, y-pipe, 50mm throttle body and a couple other small things. What does everyone have and how much HP, TQ, and MPG are you getting?

I have a 5.2 now. But it's not new like ours will be, if you get it. I
still have a great amount of power left after 200k miles. the torque
is pretty good, and i'm getting about 12 mpg. Yeah yeah i know,
but it's also older.(200,000 miles older) and was driven a lot
before i had it. So, if it's new, it should be around where the
statistics from the factory should be. But possibly a little + or - in
some cases. Cause you just never know.

I plan on having most of the parts in about three months or less. I am just wondering what kind of power and gas mileage everyone is getting.

Mine is the stock 360 and has more power than I can use without calling attention to myself with the law. My milage depends on if I'm having fun driving it (12 mpg) or thrifty or on a freeway on a trip ( 17 mpg). Plus any money I ever put into a vehicle I never got back upon it's sale, so I don't put any underhood mods on as it's my daily driver and not a show car. It just looks bling on the outside which is the only part of my truck that 99% of the people see anyway.

Last night we installed 39# injectors into my bro in law's 318 Ram and swapped in a MAP sensor to read the boost from the Turbo.

Well, before last night we could feel the Turbo start to boost and it had 5 to 6PSI of boost but was not tuned well and lean.

Last night we threw in the bigger waste gate spring and tried it with the additional fuel.

OMG what a difference! It actually gets 7 to 8 PSI and pulls us into the seat pretty good. It wants to bust the tires loose as it boosts. And he's got 4.10 locker.

It is NOT tuned 100%, no FMU or extra pump. Nothing. Just the injectors and the other MAP is trimming fuel somewhat. It blew the restrictive 2 1/2" cat off last night and the boost increased when it did. He has to go get a 3+" cat now.

Makes me want to get my Duster Turbo engine together. I'm still tuning the Turbo on my ATV...

I was beating him by .5 in the 1/4 no matter what mods we each did. Now I bet he's got a full second or better on me.
We'll probably find out tomorrow night.
He's got $1k into it total, NEW Turbo, NEW injectors, USED intercooler and misc metal we made piping out of...

Well mo, I got all the racing out of my system when I was younger with my 68' Plymouth GTX. I left more rubber on the street than there is at a rubber plantation. We even had a 1/4 mile measured out on one particular out of the way street that we used for drag racing. But all that wear and tear on my 440 done wore it out, not to mention my torqueflite tranny. Now I tend to take care of my vehicles a little better, cause they cost more to begin with and cost a hell of a lot more to repair now with all the computer junk. I love my Dak and intend to keep it awhile. If I was gonna trade my car in every couple of years it might be different.
