Subject: Trouble Code P 0205...bad injector?
IP: Logged

Message:
Ok, drove down to Salt Lake City today...roughly 25-30 miles...truck drove fine. Parked it for no more than 15 minutes, started her up and check engine light came on and was idling like hell. Checked the code, got P 0205 and I called the dealer to see if it was safe to drive home, up a steep canyon stretch of highway. They couldn't tell me what the code was but said it it wasn't blinking I'd be fine.

Well, it continued to run like crap for a few minutes and then went back to normal. I babied it up the canyon where it seemed to run well. Does this sound like a bad injector or something deeper?

I've read on other sites it could be a multitude of things...it's got 107k miles on it (2000 4.7l) and it's run great with the exception of a few issues in the front end. I did have my flashers on the other day for about 45 minutes and it started up very sluggish indidcating it might be time to replace the stock battery. Also, with the hot weather we had here a few weeks ago crawling up the same steep canyon road my engine would squeal at high RPM full throttle, almost sounding like a bad bearing somewhere? Maybe my altenator? The reason I mention this is because I'm wondering if it's something electrical that's causing the problem and not necessarily the injector on cylinder 5.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

So today the code dissapeared...until the next start. Went away for about 10 minutes and then when I stopped and started the truck back up it idled like crap for a second and then went back to normal only with the check engine light on. Mind you, it has been running fine since this happened the other day. Seems like an electrical hiccup to me?

Why don't you try reseating the #5 injector's connector? Also, maybe your injectors are getting a little dirty? Do you ever run fuel injector cleaner and Marvel Mystery oil through your fuel system to keep things clean and lubricated?

I checked the connector but will check again...i do run injector cleaner fairly frequently and did put in some with half a tank. i was told to dilute the gas strongly with cleaner this go around....it's still running well so i don't know what's up.

I know this sounds crazy, but check your Power Steering Fluid Pressure switch. It's pluged into the site of the metal hose that comes out of the pump.
I had the same injector codes, and my O2 sensors shorted out.
All because that damned Power Steering fluid pressure switch and leaked, and a bunch of fluid ran into the wire harness - and ALL THE WAY BACK to the O2 sensor! Not kidding, checking it out. I replaced the PSFPS, and it still blew an o2. Had residual fluid in the harness.... it finally cleared out/dried up.
