Subject: Quickish, easy upgrades?

Hey all. Just wanted to ask real quick...What are some *not expensive*....or easy upgrades I can do to my truck to squeeze a bit more energy out of my motor. My truck is a 93 5.2, 4x4. I thought maybe a MSD ignition, or something like that would be a good start. Maybe a nice K&N filter? The only non stock thing on my truck is the dual Magnaflow exhaust, and slightly bigger tires. Any suggestions? The engine has 160,000 miles on her, and I can't afford a rebuild......so any tidbits of advice would be great! Thanks guys...
Kevin

Aftermarket ignition will do nothing for efficiency/power production. Just make sure your stock ignition is in good shape.

A drop in air filter of any kind/brand will do nothing. But a good cold air intake system will help.

Get a programming module for the computer. That's about the best bang for the buck you can do for a computer controlled vehicle.

Get rid of those tires. Smaller lighter tires will make the truck quicker and handle better.

Consider new gears. You probably have around 3.25 gears. 3.92's will make a huge differance. Kind of expensive with 4x4, though.

Get rid of all the junk in the back.

Alright, sweet. Thanks for the input. Any suggestions on where to go for an Intake? Brand? Price range? I'll look into it, but if you have suggestions let me know.
Thanks again.

Yea, you can go to Home depot.

Get the necessary large bore tubes, good fittings, and make your own, 'homebrew'!

I used a 'fernco' coupler to my TB, it's rubber, and gives a little. Then PVC, then a K&N recharbable filter.

I'll put it up against any 'store bought' CAI, on the same 4.7 motor on a dyno.

01, 4.7, manual, HO cams and intake, homebrew 'true' CAI, no stink'n Belt clutch/fan,
NO third cat, SC's tuner,
229RWHP, 300RWFt/lbs -REAR WHEEL!

Yea, I agree with the Home Depot idea---alot cheaper. Mopar performance computer is a great addition, think it cost about $250? Made my 92 2wd 5.2L cherp in second gear finally. MSD ignition will give you alot better throttle response--bout $200 for box and coil.

My 92 2wd 5.2 w/3.55s and 235/75-15 ATs has the factory
CAI and will turn the tires on the 1-2 shift no problem.
At 160k miles I wouldn't be looking to do too much to it.
