yea if you got the front wheel drive dak then engine is sideways; but then again if you got the front wheel drive Dak, someone phucked you over really good.

You say it`s LIKE it`s from the factory? Has this engine been outside of this truck before? The valve covers give a clue to some kinda something. Anyway, if that engine has been out before it is possible the mounts could`ve gotten swapped.
Is the transmission setting centered fore to aft under the truck or is it slightly angled? If it is setting nestled nice and neatly in its hole under the truck, I don`t know what to tell ya cuz. I ain`t never seen one off centered like that before.

All of the 5.2 and 5.9 engines are off to the right of the Dakota I know my 93 is. Look at the upper A arm on the right and then look at the one on the left.

Just went out to take a look at mine to see what's to the left of the engine that needs room. Obvious answer. If it was a right-hand drive, the engine would be offset the other way. Think steering intermediate shaft clearance.
