so what do you guys thing about settin a shortbed dakota up for some drift racing? i mean im already rippin it around alot of corners in my town but i could only imagine if it was set up right. im thinkin with my current mods and mabey some heads i could get an easy 270-300 hp and thats plety to get the tires spinnin. then get that hotchkins racing suspension that converts the rear to a 4link. its only 2k and will also lower the truck 2-4. just figured i might share my thoughts with ya'll

You must enjoy rice? Why would you want an american made truck trying to be a rice rocket? If you want to drift get a rice rocket and drift!

uhhh idk if you have ever watched that drift racing on tv but more than 50% of the cars are american. dodge sponsors the top racer and hes drivin a viper. there is one dude with an elcomino but i figured a truck would be badass. and drifting is alot better than goin in a strait line for 13 sec and then wait in another line for an hour just to do the same thing again.

drifting has been around a lot longer than ricing. buy an R/T and stick a can of dip in the parking brake release and you have a drift truck...btw it only works for about a week before having to adjust the rear brakes again...

first of all ricers did not invent drifting, maybe they made it into a sport but american cars were drifting way before.

i think that is an awesome plan clint. i would save up and go for the 4 link.

why buy an R/T? "a can if dip" like skoal?

i found out it wasnt a 4 link... my bad. the picture for it showed a 4 link but that wasnt for the truck. its pretty much a lowering kit with some thicker sway bars and better springs.

but what would you guys suggest for a lowering/handling kit for a standard cab dak? ive been lookin around and hotchkins seems the best at about a grand. thats alot more than raising somthin lol. im use to my jeep. a nice lift is about 500 bucks. lowerin a truck is almost double!!

i have driven a R/T with a Hotchins lowering kit that i believe dropped it 2ins in the front with new lower control arms and 3ins in the back with blocks. there was no swaybar upgrade and the track handle great but so does my dakota with its stock suspension. i think the ride quality is better with the lowering kit but not worth the price.

i have another friend that drop the front of his dakota 2ins in the front 3ins in the rear and just used blocks in the rear and a short stiffer springs in the front and the truck handles the best.

i thought they made a four link for our trucks?

if you just lower the rear and get a rear swaybar the truck should handle better and be more predictable, and go with a drop in the front like 1in or 2in with stiffer springs and a thicker swaybar it should drift like a charm when its not gripping the road.

its got a 2in block in the rear but im pretty sure that the front is stock. it is a ruff ride though. i dont really care but i know my passengers do lol. im pretty sure you could find a 4 link for a dak somewere but im almost positive hatchkins dont have one.

right now i can take some seriouse turns goin pretty damn fast. but it likes to push alot. if im in a high gear and gun it and turn sharp i get alot of oversteer. any quick way/cheap way to fix that? cuz i know thats the #1 thing a drift car cant have.

and what about cutting the front springs a bit? any suggestions on that?
