Subject: Serious Question - May be selling my dak
IP: Logged

Message:
If I put my dak up for sale today... who here would seriously be interested in it? For everyone, interested or not, what do you think would be a fair price?

Red 1998 Dakota Sport RC
3.9L V6 - Automatic Transmission
50,xxx miles
Aftermarket cruise control (installed by Ziebart)
No power windows/locks
Most bolt on mods...if sold, would include all stock parts for those who don't like/want some of the mods. Sony Xplod Headunit...though I'd prolly take that and put the stock headunit back in, still unsure there. Bedliner. Needs new tires, but I'd prolly get those before selling it. Runs great...starts right up even in the middle of the winter when the temps are 20 below. Has a few minor dings and stuff...and a few spots on the bumpers, but nothing major. I just can't afford to have em popped out and repainted. Also the front brakes are new...calipers, rotors, and pads. And the rear shocks are also new. Also has flowmaster 40 series muffler with a turndown... I'd prolly just drop the price to reflect a new stock exhaust setup since I don't think most people would want my setup. It's not quiet...we'll put it that way.

Anyway...what do you all think? Oh yeah...also would include a matching topper. Located in Piqua, OH (45356). This is not a for sale ad...yet. I'm still working on my dad as far as funding for a 4.7L 4x4 Dak, but I would like to see at least who all here might be interested.

KBB private party value is approx. $6,660

Hoping to get a newer 4.7L 4x4...I start college in a month and I may be living at home for a while instead of down by the college which will mean a 30 mile drive to school and then 30 miles back on a daily basis. Sure it won't be real great on gas, but during the winter sometimes these areas get pounded with snow and ice and I gotta make sure I can make it to class on time. Let me rephrase: These areas get absolutely pounded for the area I'm in...lol...nothing like New York, Michigan, Minnesota, etc, etc. Enough that you need a 4x4 or you're better off sitting in the ditch or the driveway. That and I would really just like a newer and more powerful truck...and this may be my opportunity to do it since my dad will prolly be willing to help me out with the payments (since he won't have to pay for housing charges in college...kind of a trade off).

So, you've seen how much fun daffydak's been having with his 4.7L huh?

Sorry I can't really offer much advice regarding pricing. However, if you're planning on selling it yourself, its a good idea to read up on some buying/selling stategies on sites like carbuyingtips.com

Good luck, I know that you've put a lot of work into that Dak.

Hehe! Someone’s got the v8 BUG lol :-)
To tell you the truth, I think my current truck is just about as good on gas as my 3.9L was... i had to get into the v6 alot more to accelerate like i liked to (it only had a 15 gal tank too) my "new" truck, has a 22 gallon tank i believe. And I dont have to work it as hard to pull nicely off the line. I'm sure I probably don't get better mileage then the 3.9L, but the extra power is worth it IMHO (no offense to the 3.9L guys :)

the dealer gave me 4,000 for my 98, on trade-in. I had pretty much the same mods that you have (excepting a v8 TB and accell coil) i had 6-month-old tires, and the truck had 49K on it. The only thing is, my dak didn't have a single dent on it. It had a minor scratch here and there, but nothing major.. how bad are your tires? if they are still useable, don't waste your money getting new ones. heck, you'll just be giving them away :-) i guess you cold put soem cheap NO-NAME tires on it to help the resale value.

Yes...damn you Dan! lol

I'll have to look into that stuff...I'm still working on my dad as far as funding though so I prolly shouldn't hold my breath anytime soon. My brother's needing a new car before too long since he'll be 16 in a couple months. I think I've got him convinced to get a Ram (he don't like Daks...says he wants a BIIIIG truck). So it's either a Ram or a Celica. I'm prolly gonna tell my dad we can incorporate finding him a car with finding me a truck... while looking for the Dakota we could check out stuff for him as well. Kill two birds with one stone...lol

I have an idea! maybe you can convince him to like dakotas, and give him your dak when you get a new one :-) speaking of him (your brother) I take it he made a FULL recovery.... maybe that's why he wants something BIG :-) he could run over the s10 with a ram for sure LOL!

lol...he won't go for that idea. He doesn't want the same type of vehicle as me. He barely wants a Ram since I got a Dakota. lol

He hasn't fully recovered yet, but he will. He just had his lower halo removed from his leg not too long ago. He was told to stay off that leg for the next month cuz removing the halo weakened his bones, but of course within 2 days he was walking on it. He's still got the top halo on and I think that one will come off in a month or maybe less. Then he'll just have to let it heal and he'll be able to fully use it again. His arm is healed I think...he's got a plate in it with a nasty scar though. Worst part about that is in a year he's going to have to have another surgery on it to have the plate removed or it'll stunt the growth in his arm.
