what happens if u put a jet 2 chip in with out a 180 tstat? does it do anything. (beacause truckpreformance shipped them separatly and I only have the chip) also to all u guys that said jet 2 will work w/o premium fuel, it says right in the instructions that premium fuel is required for the stage 2 chip

It will cause a lot of pinging without the colder t-stat and less than 93 octane fuel. Period.

"Pinging" is pre-ignition or detonation where the fuel/air mix combusts before the piston reaches top dead center. To put it simply, imagine taking a center punch and a hammer and whacking a small dimple in the top of your piston. Well, each and every little individual "ping" that you hear is another little dimple in the top of that piston. NOT TOO GOOD.

Better get the t-stat in place and start running premium fuel. That's what horsepower costs.

it will work without it but be more efficient with it....it would probably only "ping" under heavy loads or heavy throttle.
