well guys....just got back from the track....did three mods this time; relocated IAT, relocated nitrous nozzle, and put in NOS offroad booster.

well, i ran a best of 9.6 (slower than last time)...found the problem......TRACTION!!

i was spinning my hoosiers into second gear. it was high school night and they didn't prep the track for slicks at all, just squirted some water for the burnout box. i will go again on saturday when the pros are there....the track is has a better bite when all the drag cars are there.

i guess i will have to get a LSD now;)

i beat a new Z-28! the only other cars i raced against were the roll cage bigblock type (SOB).

but my times were a lot better than a lot of little ricers......my favorite was the 11.9 hopped up Focus.....oh, oh....then there was the 13 second (1/8) four banger S-10.

thanx for the ebay item...but i have a 98 8 1/4.
that is a good price though.

i didn't beat every Z28....most of them had a lot of mods and were running high 8's, but this one looked bonestock and ran a 9.8.....did he give it everything the car has....i don't know....all i know is i was next to him the whole time and then my tires gripped and i took off and got ahead of him. my trap speed was 80 mph....pretty high for a 9.6 eight.

this Z could of had the 2.73 gears..... and that would justify my win.

Can HE beat a Z-28?

BTW, some of the most intense racing is done at "backwoods" 1/8th mile tracks, hot daddy.

more importantly alex what do u run! i run 14.8 in the quarter with a 93 dakota sport sb 5spd, with gibson cat back, jba headers, v8 tb, ported intake openings to matck the size of the tb, mopar performance pcm, 1:7 rockers, 14x3 open k&n, and a sure grip. tell u the truth it goes but i would think any z-28 would blow my doors off. Like intense said it is only a truck.

I run 15.18 @ 90. It's a Club Cab 4.7L Sport with 3.55 posi gears and a 5-spd. It weighs 4200 lbs with me in it. I have a 70 mm TB, a cool air tube, a Dynomax exhaust and some traction bars.

Once I buy some Mickey ET's it'll go 14.8's too.

That's a total of $600 in mods. $950 with the tires.

And it gets 23 mpg on the highway.

You're right though, it's just a truck.

I do respect your honesty about what you think your truck can and cant do but it in no way enables you to down others.
Intense has been posting and helping ALOT of others on V6 forum for quite some time now and I think he speaks the truth.
Please go and find the track he races at and disprove him before you bash him on here.
Thanks for your support. lol

i dont know lesley....i have bad traction. i hope to get a lsd soon. i hit 80 mph in the 1/8 but i spun my slick (i have two but spin only one) into second gear.

93dak....i understand your frustration...but not every Z28 is like your neighbors and my sixer isn't anywhere near like any other sixer. my mom has a 400+ horsepower 2000 Z28 that can blast me down the highway but i can take it off the line because it has 2.73 highway gears. i have raced my friend who has a 99 Z28 with a Flowmaster and intake from a 20 mph start and i beat him until he stopped at 85 and i was going 90.....now if he raced me from a stop he would of smashed me because he had 3.42 gears and a six speed.

Alex, the little green Dak is still in my garage gettin massaged, I am still welding up all the parts on the 8 3/4 to make it work in my Dak.
Satellite systems selling like mad so I havent had alot of time to give to my Dak.
No problem Intense, I find people who make INSTANT judgments on others need a reality check, especially if there judging based on there "neighbors" car, lol.
I have to admit (as dodgeboy stated), that was alot of work to do to an open rear. L/S is the ticket for you!! cant wait, that oughta drop a half second off your times!!
Good luck, keep us posted as I will you.

nice mods but all the hp in the world ain't nothing if it won't hook up. Bad problem w/ pickups. Bad weight transfer on the launch all the weight is on the front you have to find a way to balance the weight and get it to both tires when you go to 4:10's it will get worse! I love the fourlink but that is alot of work and cutting on a good looking truk. the best racing is in the backwoods on the 1/8th!! head to head!!

Dont be afraid of putting an 8 3/4 in your truck, its simple welding and geometry.
The nice thing about em is you can buy a couple of members, have em set up with different ratios and swap em out in a hour or less by your self!!
I have changing 3rd members down to a science, I can do it by my self on my back in almost a half an hour. I have one with 2.76 open for those long trips, I have another with 3.55 (there in the Challenger now) and lastly one with 4.10 L/S in em, and I think you know where that is.

Good call on the 1/8th scot.

I bought aluminum L channel at Home Depot, cut it to length, made a box shaped bracket the size of a battery and mounted it under the truck back where the spare tire used to be.
Was an easy mod to transfer weight.
Oh and 2 gauge wire, remote battery terminals and copper lugs to terminate it all.
Have you taken out your inner fenders yet? those and the rubber parts weigh quite alot, dont know if its a good idea to take em out if your Dak is a daily driver.

genIIIs really don't have that much of an inner fender that you can take out...just a lot of water sheilds. My truck is a daily driver so that also wouldn't be a good idea. Since i really never use it and my girlfriend and i use her car for trips i am thinking of yanking all of the a/c stuff out... condensor, evaporator, plumbing, core, compressor and switching to a non a/c bracket. That would be about 50 pound loss and less crank power loss. What ya gotta remember is losing a 100 pounds is like gaining 10 horsepower. in the future i might also move my gas tank in the bed above where the spare use to be.

here's a good idea (simpsons)....drill speed holes!;)

Yeah, AC robs alot of power, impressive that you run that good with it though.
Yes my inner fenders were basically "water sheilds", so much so that I had to make a shield to go under the computer. All the water sheding off the tire sprayed right on it!!

Dont watch the simpsons, but it sounds funny.

I'll have time to send the picts to you on monday, do you have WinZip?
