Sure...I got one...why you gonna run a Ranger with the largest available engine against a 3.9L V6 which is I believe the 2nd SMALLEST available Dakota engine (for the older models...the new 3.7L is now the smallest in the 2004+ daks). Let's compare apples to apples... most powerful Dakota engine versus the most powerful Ranger engine. For the older model Dakotas that would be the 5.9L Dakota R/T versus the 4.0L Ranger if I'm not mistaken...if we're going with the 2004+ years then it's the 4.7L Dakota versus the 4.0L Ranger.
Now if you still wanna race our little 6's...then we need to even that out as well. To make it fair, we'll race base model for base model for the 2004+ Dakotas. That'd be your lil dinky 2.3L Rangers versus our 3.7L Dakotas. Now you probably would have a chance of winning in a fair race with the older Dakotas because it'd be your 2.3L (or whatever your pre-2004 base model I4 was) versus our 2.5L I4...which never should have been put into a Dakota.
Still think you'd win the race? Bahaha...yeah...right...

i never said that "I’m the bad(d)est mother f'r ever" I’m just saying that a 4.0 dosent need to be compared to a 3.9L... its comparing apples to oranges! just like gb2000 said, the 4.0 is the biggest engine you can get in a ranger (from the factory) and as of right now the biggest engine in the Dakota is the 4.7L! I’m not trying to brag, if i came off that way i apologize....
However, I dont appreciate being called names just for STATING MY OPINION!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever noticed all the POS Dodges traded in on the Ford lots? That should say something... A 4.2 F150 will spank the crap out of a V6 Dodge. Definitely a superior built product. Dodge: Drips Oil and Drops Grease Everywhere!!! HAH

A 4.2 against a 3.9? Like GB2000 said, compair apples to apples. They 4.2 is slow anyways, my dad has one and it is a piece of crap. Run the biggest stock ranger engine against the biggest stock dakota engine and you will see the truth. I would never go to your site and say to run a Ram against a ranger. We all here say that the 3.9 is under powered, but it will come to life, I know for a fact. Just run similar trucks and you will see what is better. Dodge has the fastest production truck, Ram SRT/10 and also the fastest production car (if I am not mistaken) the Viper SRT/10. Do you see a pattern arrising? I can't wait for the Magnum SRT/8 soon. A supercharged Hemi, I think that is OUR Dream and YOUR nightmare!

Dream a little...
You still have an underpowered, useless, little truck, with a well known short lifespan. I kinda know the feeling. I had a 2.3 Ranger, but I got 180,000 low $ miles.

yeah, my local ford dealer has a lot of daks on the used lot, but they have a pretty quick turnover time. the used rangers though, they have a lot of em at the seedy little car-buyer places for people who can't find a buyer elsewhere.

I've had a 97 ranger with whatever v6 they put in it, and a 98 dakota with the 3.9 and I would never go back to a ranger. Hell, its a much smaller truck, it shouldn't take a large engine to get it going. Besides, all the cab will hold is an average sized sixth grader and a backpack. The 3.9 is only underpowered because you get nearly twice the truck, and it still runs better than my ranger.

Wake up and realize you don't have a truck... As a Dakota is hardly a truck.
I know, I had a '94 Dodge work "truck" that I thought was really cool until it died on that side of the road with 40,000 on the odometer as the oil pump gave out. Go ahead and waste your money on Dodge products and remember this when your day of reckoning comes.
And, by all means, if you want to drive that rattle box for any amount of time (50,000mi.+), quit racing Fords or it won't make it.
It'll be another one that Died Off and Dumped its Gears Everywhere.HAHA!

Isn`t known that Ford builds their trucks so they would always need repairs ,so they could make more money? Rust peices of sh!t. My 89 dak is doesnt have a spec of rust. The cab and everything`s pretty much all made of galvined steel. Thanks Dodge.
