I have heard the 1.7 roller rockers do not fit under stock valve covers, is this true?

Yeah...you have to modify the valve covers or they will hit.

The Harland Sharp RR's will fit without hitting the valve covers and you also do not have to adjust them when you install them.

are the harland sharp rockers as high a quality rocker as crower though? I am thinking about installing some on my dakota. Ecspecially if I can use my stock valve covers and don't have to worry about modding the baffle or buying new ones.

with the Crower's, all you have to do is knnock the baffle down about 1/4". nothing serious.

no, the crowers are the premium rocker - made from forged steel... last forever. And they are light where they need to be light and are beefy where they need to be beefy. I had a set on my 3.9 for more than 35K miles and when i took them off to put them on my buddies truck, they looked like the day i bought them.

you can either;

* remove the baffle
* hammer in the baffle
* use two sets of VC gaskets

6.6 Lt. Big Block, 727 TF shift kit, 452 heads, edelbrock 750 cfm, .513/.513 284/300 crower cam, comp cams springs, comp cams pushrods, 1.5 roller rockers, dp intake, mopar ignition, mopar windage tray, dual exhaust w/ 40 series flowmasters, 4.10 gears, coilover drag suspension, approx, 3500 lbs

I have sold hundreds of Crower rocker sets... You DO have to knock in the oil baffles for the stock covers-- OR-- as an alternative-- I remove the baffles, weld in new low profile baffles, then powdercoat the covers (in a choice of colors) for $100 shipped + you old stock covers in exchange.

I have many satisfied V6 customers-- here's a link to what the candy purple look like...

http://www.socaldakota.com/services_powdercoating.html

The Crower rockers are the best in the biz-- will outlast your truck. I offer 100% free phone assistance during install (Sat/Sun) if needed. I'll even call ya back.

Let me know if I can be of assistance.

Intense made from forged steel

even better they are stainless steel and super
strong

Talking with Brian Crower they have a dodge that
has been running them for over 9 years and no
probs

Just lay the covers on a towel on the floor take
a short 2X4 and hit them down just be sure you
leave the ends open a little so the PCV works
and the oil goes in takes about 5 min for each

Or get a set from Sam and let him do the work LOL
powder coat is nice looking

I want to try the harlands some day for the
average guy no adjusting but how long they last
is still a big question

I have about 50,000 on a set of self aligning
crowers and they do still look just like they did
when they went in and I have reved this motor to
5800 and they did not fall off

I have a few customer trucks that have over
100,000 on the crower self alining rockers and
still running strong and they do get beat. If they
are installed and adjusted right you should never
have to touch them again

I run the rev kit with guides in my stroker motors
but they rev higher than a stock V6

When I first put this stock 92 motor in my truck
it had a set but the guy did not adjust them right
and I broke a aligning washer, went to a friends
machine shop ground a grade 8 washer to .030 poped
the pin and replaced it myself with a star peen in
the pin reinstalled them, have put over 10,000 on
them after that and they still run great.

They do run a little louder than stock, I don't
mean a tick but a rumble if you listen close under
the hood and rev the motor you can hear them but
thats normal for any steel roller rocker

They are an excellent upgrade over stock and very
noticeable improvement in performance starting
about 1800 rpm they add average around 20 foot
pounds of touque and peak 18 hp gain at the wheels
and also help gas mileage with excellent low end
torque gains

A very worth while thing to do to your V6 and I
will swear the crowers are 1 tuff rocker

If for any reason they need work
prices from Brian
New tips, around $10
New rocker around $30 for a replacement

12 new ones runs $360 but that does not inclued
the stud lock nut or spacer washer so $380 $400
is a very good price for a rocker that has been
proven to hold up by thousands of mopar magnum
engine owners

I went to school with Brian Crower, and know Danny-- and of course Dave.

I am the oddball vendor for them--- I sell the most stuff for the magnum motors-- lmao... Trying to get them to make the shaft mounted rockers (ala T&D) for the magnums... We will see what happens.

I put a set of the 1.7 crower RR i bought from sam he was easy to work with and even helped with the install not to mention had the best deal.
The modifacation of the valve covers was easy. just use a hammer and a chunk of wood or if u dont have that use a rock lol. Dont worry about the paint go over it with something abrasive to remove the loose stuff and forget about it. I tried to remove the old messed up paint on mine using paint remover and lets say theirs a reason why i took it to the powder coater.
The hardest part is getting the valve covers off anyone here will tell u that lol!

For quality go with something made with an infinite stress life... like steel. Avoid getting aluminum unless u plan to idle ur truck the rest of its life. ive seen to many aluminum parts bend when they get old and tired from repeated pressure also go with something u can adjust so when the engine wears you can always adjust it especially if u drive it hard

Hey Larry-- shoot me an email-- there's more to the replacements than you've been told. I've got 2 guys with over 100k each on theirs-- both built new motors and got theirs rebuilt for piece of mind.

I'll email ya the details.
