 Subject: whining noise

For some reason, around 2000 rpms to about 3000, i get a whining noise coming from what seems to be the power steering, however i just flushed it out, and put in the good stuff. It went away for less than a week, and now it is back just as bad.
Any ideas what it might be? Thanks! BTW, its a '98 3.9L, with only light mods.

I get a whining when I hit 40mph or above. only when I accelerate, let off the gas and it stops.

yeah, mine only does it when i am giving it gas. ITS DRIVING ME INSANE! its not really that noticable over my exhaust, but it is there, and that is what bothers me...

can you get it to whine while revving in neutral? mine would whine REALLY LOUD at or near idle. it was the egr valve on mine.

you should look into replacing the power steering pump. How ever, its pricey from the stealer ship, around $450 or so.
You can get a Napa power steering pump for around $80. And if you can find some one to put it on for you, you will save a lot.
Other then that, a flush is the only short curable thing for it

yeah i went to a 5.2l 4x4 6" lift with some 33x12.5 super swamps.
Hope to get some new pics of it soon. Got the mods already started.

sounds good to me! the 6 still keeps up with the 318 tho. Once my bro get back the mods i sold off of it(before i knew he was buying it), that and some new rear tires. He will beat the 318.
Keep in mind tho 318, 4x4 6" lift 33X12.5's 3.92's. Truck came with a few mods already, and the v6 still hangs.
On my newer truck i got K&N intake, Mopar pcm, relocated IAT into the K&N tube, MSD 6a/blaster ss/8.5mm/timing control. Also have no 3rd cat, with o2 simms. I think this truck could run low 16's

yeah, you should get an M1. But one i get my new rear end, new tires, i should be able to smoke you, even with an M1. bahhh, we'll see, i'll even race you for slips, lol
