Subject: V8 supercharger on a V6
IP: Logged

Message:
Since a 3.9L V6 is pretty much the exact same thing as a 5.2L V8 (only two less cylinders) could a supercharger for a V8 be modified to fit on a V6? I've looked at pictures of both and all the accessories in the front are in the same position. So could it work, and/or what would be involved in modifying it to work?

Absolutely. We sell V8 and V6 blower kits and they are very similar.

what years are those made available on? if i had one, it would eliminate the need to do an engine swap.

His website is http://www.krcperformance.com. I think they were priced at $3699 for the V6 kit.

If i put one on my 94, would it be recommended to put in a new motor first, then add that? Also, would the power increase be the equal of simply dropping in a stock 318, without adding the 2 extra cylinders? i mean, that would be easier to do than do a complete motor swap and end up messing something up because i don't have the right parts. How far down would my fuel mileage go with it? Thanks for your time.

power will be better then a stock 318. plsu you get that awsome supercharger whine. much easier then a complete motor swap. thing with the v-6s is the head gaskets. there are no aftermarket versions of it. so your stuck with stock. i blew both mine out but that was due to a bad seal in the blower and it was pushing oil into my cylnders. and oil does not compress very well. i was running a v-2 vortech that came off a mustang. if you buy the kit from KRC then make a shorter discharge tube that will hook up properly to your air hat. i jsut cut mine. came loose alot. so all you really have to do to make it work is cut the discharge tube and some of the other tubing. it is not all that hard. ran into a problem with my blowoff valve hitting the valve covers but thats about it. that'll all get changed with the intercooler set up next year. hope this helps somebody..
Deffinitly give Marty or Tripper at KRC a call.
