pizza, they come with v8's!! Why would you not get one with a v8.. Besides the 318 is one of dodge's best engines... Gas mileage??? come on nancy, don't be a big fat puszy. It's not that big of difference anyway.

Insurance...cost of the vehicle with the V8 compared to one with a V6...hmmm...yeah...it was considerably cheaper to get the V6.

well if your on this site, your obviously a dodge enthusiast. That being said your probably into performance, off roading, or show. And performance you obviously want to start with a v8, off roading you want to get those tires moving, and show.... well you wants to look at a magnum v6 decal when they can see a magnum v8 decal.

Not necessarily. That's a good assumption for the Performance Forum, but some of us just love good, solid, reliable trucks and want them to look great, last forever, and be cheap to run. So a V-6 makes sense when you're only hauling lumber, furniture, yard supplies, etc as opposed to towing boats.

The main reason i had a v6 dak, is that it was basically given to me... i took over the last 1 1/2 years of payments, i was 17 at the time. Heck, my parents made me an offer i couldn’t refuse!! I still kida miss my v6 Dakota, it was reliable and fun to drive... granted i had to mod it quite a bit, but it was fun none the less.... and there’s nothing like messing with full size v8 trucks, when you have a SIX LOL!!

The main reason (s) i stepped up to a v8:
I wanted a 4x4 CC auto, and i figured a 3.9L in a truck like that would be a DOG (no offense)

Sound; dont get me wrong, i liked my 3.9L's unique sound. But the 4.7L sounds freaking awesome!! not to mention the new tech in the 4.7L

And torque, as well as the 45rfe trans.

The 42RE that i had with my v6, was always hunting for gears. Even when it was new, it was sometimes indecisive....

So in closing i would like to say, that I don't regret owning v6 Dakota.. Even though my current Dakota (STOCK) would blow my modded 3.9 RC i had away :-P so i dont think I’m going back to a v6 any time soon LOL..

not everyone on this board is here to hop up there truck. Some just come here for suggestions about changing oil, sparkplug recommendations and fixing stuff like ball-joints. You dont have to have an addiction for speed or power to be here.

I got my V6 because Dodge didnt make a regular cab intense blue dakota with a sunroof. I built the hell out of my V6 and have more fun doing the work than driving it (while driving it was still a blast). I always told myself that if i ever put a V8 in my dakota, it wasnt gonna be something that came from the factory... because that would just be pointless.

6.6 Lt. Big Block, 727 TF shift kit, 452 heads, edelbrock 750 cfm, .513/.513 284/300 crower cam, comp cams springs, comp cams pushrods, 1.5 roller rockers, dp intake, mopar ignition, mopar windage tray, dual exhaust w/ 40 series flowmasters, 4.10 gears, coilover drag suspension, approx, 3500 lbs

hahahahahah dan you flucking queer

adding a v8 throttle body and some pos cold air intake doesnt make it "modded quite a bit" it was still a slow as$ 17sec piece of sh!t. I'm sure it felt like a racecar to you wearing that special helmet and dreaming about it in your race care bed everynight...but it wasnt...

now why did you have to go and do that??
GET A LIFE INSTEAD OF FLAMING PEOPLE ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!! i said "messing with" not beating them!!! i could get them off the line, but after second gear thay would walk away.....

Hiii, what dakota do you have?? mayeb a 2.5L I4???

anyways...

180* t/s "cold" air intake w/k&n cone filter, v8 throttle body, glass pak muffler, jet stage 2 chip, accell coil and super stock wires, splitfires, tps sensor "mod", napa brass cap and rotor, crank sensor mod, iat sensor resistor "trick" as well as powerslot rotors and hawk HPS pads

i had a transgo shiftkit for it and was going to order 1.7 ratio RRs for it. but i traded it for my 00 dakota..

i'm pretty sure it would manage a little better than 17 in the 1/4... it was a 98 RC 2wd, and well maintained...

Okay...well if we're on this forum, it's obvious we need a V6 and if we had a V8, we (well...most of us...) wouldn't be on this forum.

you didnt start anything...

people just gave their opinion

only sh*t starting was for someone giving dan a hard time.

everybody else just gave a logical answer (at least in their own minds).

according to the amount of posting on the v6 board on this site, and the polls taken on other dakota boards, it seems as though there are more V6 owners than there are V8 owners. And the V8 owners have more options... 4.7, 5.2, and 5.9 compared to the 3.7 and 3.9 (3.7 being available for only 1 year so far).

I bought my 93 Dakota 4x4 extended cab with a 3.9 because it was cheap. When I bought it, it had 140,000 miles and has lots of options (power windows, power locks, cruise, etc.).

I am doing a little towing with it and it isn't fast when I tow, but I'll tell you that I have 160,000 miles on it now and with just minor maintenance items it runs better than it did when I bought it. The A/C still works well and honestly, I'm happy with it. The insurance is cheap, it gets the job done and it has a reasonable amount of power. It's not fast, but it is respectable.

Its because I have alot of TRUSTED FRIENDS in here!!! I’m not out to rub having a v8, in anyone’s face. I just enjoy (for the most part) posting in the v6 board. It seems more active, and there’s less rivalry... the important thing is, we all have dakotas ;-)

Oh, and glad to see your a member now wadak!!

keep truckin'
