Try the wiper motor ground wire. That was my problem.

Its possible the armature for the wiper blades fell off the motor assembly. (it happened to me)

The only way to tell is to first remove the wiper blades, then remove the plate under your wipers (you have to open the hood the get to most of the screws), then remove the plastic covering below (a screw or two hold it in place with tabs to the front side of the truck, so you have to pry it back towards the window).

From the driver side, use a flashlight to locate the motor assembly and verify that the retaining clip is still holding the arm that actuates the wipers on the motor spindle. (yeah my terminology sucks, but you get the idea)

If it is, I would start looking into an electrical issue, like a blown fuse, or the wiring harness is pulled out, etc.

Hope tha helps

i have kinda an odd issue with my wiper motor. i was drivin in the rain about an year ago and all of a sudden the motor went from being quiet to making a wierd squeaky/grinding noise when they operate. (not a gradual thing, just like boom) but they still work fine. anybody else have this issue...i know of an 89 that has the same problem.

Sounds like a bearing/bushing problem with the wiper connection arm and linkage. I had an old 77 F-150 that did the same thing (did the squeak, grind, thunk thing).
