I was wondering if there is a aftermarket Intake manifold that we can put on our 3.9's and how much will it help our HP and has anyone tried changing this out or not? What if we had two TB's on the manifold insted of 1, WOW.

well, this isn't bernd or tom, but i can fill in. there aren't any aftermarket parts, but KRCPerformance does all kinds of modifications. they charge $300 for porting V6 heads, and i think they also port intakes. try them out. www.krcperformance.com

all you can really do to the stock manifold to help performance is to cut the plenum divider up about 1.5 inches.....nothing else really helps...

Intense, I cut my runners down flush first and it seemed to make a pretty big difference. You didnt cut yours down? I only took an inch and a half off the divider, how much did you cut off? I've read the more you cut off the more you kill TQ and replace it with upper RPM HP. I think I'm going to cut mine down more after I get the high stall converter.

Intense, you seem like the handy engineering type, you ever do any aluminum welding, you see how simple it would be to take a pre mag 4bbl intake, cut the mounting flange area off and weld on mag type?
Or possibly fill the bolt holes in a pre mag intake with aluminum then drill mag straight down style holes?
Just thinkin.

i still haven't cut my plenum divider yet....
trying to find an excuse to take my manifold and heads off to do a little "free" mods.

yeah, your right....that looks kinda simple....
i was thinking of making something like that...
never welded aluminum but i have all of the equipment at my grandfather's shop....i am a quick learner

So let me get this straight, you havent even done any intake mods yet? and your runnin that good?!!
Oh now that is sweet, that means I should be pretty fast, the only thing I dont have that you do at the moment is 1.7 rockers and your trick rear setup. but I'm lighter, have 4.10's and a well massaged intake
Cant wait till the track opens up.
Is your best 1/8th 9.5 or have you done better?
I think I'm going to find a pre mag 4bbl intake and see what can be done with it. Buy the way, I'm not starting anything just getting a reference for what my truck should do.
Take care.

Yep!!
Just put it on, havent even drove it yet as the rear install isnt done. I got the NX, probably the same one as you.
But........ I had a custom billet of aluminum machined as a spacer under the TB and then I drilled it for the NOS injector.
You remember my posts about NOS injector mounting? I was posting as "Scott" at that time, remember I couldnt stand the though of the Fuel/NOS spraying over the TB? fixed that!!

good job!
i have been having trouble with gas dripping down my intake tube and onto my filter....i even relocated my nozzle but didn't help much...
i was thinking of doing what you did or try to machine something into my manifold design....like a port/fogger system.

get the pencil and paper i'm going to work.

Dude, I think you and I look at this stuff the same way.
Go to a local machine shop with your old TB, have them cut a 5/8ths thick spacer for under your TB.
Make sure they dont cut the individual port holes in it like the TB has, then drill a hole right in the back of it for your injector. I also made a knife cut in the top of my intake between the ports so the NOS/fuel would split better entering the intake.
Looks sweet and hides the injector also.
Good Luck
Got picts if you want em.

Can you also email me those pics? I was considering something similar for my NX setup in a few months. Glad to see an interesting post, the "which intake" or "which exhaust" gets old FAST!

Give me some time though, I am still unable to find the smartcard with the spacer picts on it(and wife is real pissed I lost another smartcard), but I do have the one with my intake mods on it.
I work almost 7 days a week so please be patient.
None of those get old to me, I like the laugh. lol.
