somebody tell me how it is possible for a heavier less powerful truck to be faster then a lighter more powerful one..are u guys who beat s10s doing it with stock V6s???
how is it possible??? is it a rear axle ratio thing....whats the deal...I really want to race one when i get my jet chip

it's not, if both are bone stock. I have yet to see or hear of any TRUTHFUL wins for the dakota.. lots of speculation tho...
I know from a roll of 30km/h the Xtreme takes it... I know that for a fact... off the line, I don't know for 100% sure, but I feel the Xtreme would win hands down. I'll let you know for sure.. when it does go down, I'll get video and post it.. should be soon.

i think if you were lucky enough to get the 3.92 gears you could take one....but it would be real close.
ya'll got to remember that the extreme is not a performance package but just the ZQ8 (or whatever it is called) suspension with ground effects, air dam, and pretty wheels. i believe that they are only 185 horsepower...the 190 horsepower is only available for the blazer and 4X4 S-10s.
now this is just a rumor but i have heard that all of the standard cabs are all 4-bangers and the x-cab is either four or six.

there are S10 Sonomas, and S10 Xtremes, the Xtreme is the "sporty" package, but I may be wrong, I'm not a GM buff... I know they offer the same engine, 4.3L 185hp

The results are in...
Race #1 - I HAD HIM TILL 85km/h, then my truck went into 3rd and slowed me down HUGE!! (if I had done the manual shift like I usually do, I could've carried to atleast 100). As soon as he passed me, it was his all the way to 140km/h
Race #2 - I called him on a rolling start. He took off immediately and took it all the way to 120km/h
All in all, it's concrete, in my experience, a V6 w/ my mods, OR LESS, CANNOT BEAT AN S10 XTREME, BONE STOCK!
If you say you do, it must be grandma in the Xtreme.
I'm sold on that now...

i pretty sure i have 4:10's in my 92 dakota...when i raced the s-10 it was stock as well...but i beat it...by a car lenght..a little less...but i still beat it...i haven't raced on since..

i think there's only a 200 lbs difference between a dakota my year and a s-10 my year in both versions..i raced a 4x4...as mine is a 4x4...but if i had a 2 wheel drive..versus a 2wheel drive s-10 i'd imaging it'd be the same..i like my truck...i've had a bronco two...my dad had a ranger..my neighbor had a s-10...and i think bang for the buck..the dakota is the best way to go

Ok, here's how it works. There is the Chevy S-10, they come in the Xtreme package, it doesn't matter what cab they have any one could have a high output 190HP 250TQ 4.3L. They have 3.08 or 3.42 gears in the rear end with locking diff. Then there is the GMC Sonoma it comes in(or did a few years ago) the SS package but it doesn't have ground efects or lowering springs, but it has everything else.

I got on the GM site and built a 2002 S-10 Xtreme and it says 190hp, I am looking at it now, so if I am wrong it's not my fault. Oh, the Sonomas have a locking rear end and the S-10s have a positraction rear end. Is there a diffrence in posi and locking?

Thats probably what it is then. There is a 2.2L Sonoma that runs around here. He has a 5 speed, srteet slicks, posi rear end and traction bars. I'm not sure what engine mods he has. I am going to try to race him, but I don't know when, if I do I will be sure to tell you how it turns out.

i would laugh my butt off if i saw a 2.2 with traction bars and slicks. you DO know in stock form they run like a 19 second 1320 right?... theres a tiny aftermarket for them also, not much you can do to help those poor bastards out.

i smoked a few xtreme's at the drags,i am sure my better reaction time had a lott to do with it,2000 r/c 3.9 auto 3.55 gears,one was close at the start but every time he shifted i got more and more distance,he ran 17.9 to my 17.20 ,i ran a reg cab 4.3 s10 in a bracket race,he dailed a 19.1to my 17.2,i put a fender on him and won,

Gotta add my 2 cents here, a buddy a work has a 2001 s-10 extended cab auto 2wd with no mods.
After much braggin' from both sides we finally raced, he ended up beating me but I took him off the line and all the way up to about 70Km/h where he finally caught up, around 100 we shut it down and I was hanging near his rear tire.
so now it's time to get a V-8 throttle body and a nice cat back and try again.

gods honest truth ive beaten an extreme.i have a bone stock 3.9 5 speed and i beat the extreme by about a car length maybe less;altough i have raced a s10 five speed and he only beat me by about half a car but that was when my back tire that pulls on my passanger side was bald i havent raced him since then.i raced a 4.0 ranger edge automatic and from a take off i beat him by more than a car and from 20 punch he beat me by more than a car length.im not lying i would have nothing to gain from lying to any of you on a damn chat board seriously.i dont know why it just happens that way.
