shell, are you positive your overdrive is gone?
OD is electronically controlled in Daks and you could have simply lost the connection, in essence you could have it turned off at all times because the switch or solenoid has gone bad.
Just a thought.
Good luck

FazDak, yeah i am pretty sure it is gone b/c it will not shift at all. i can put it in first gear then change it to second and it does not change(but i can run 45 mph at 3 RPM's) then i change it to drive it does not shift and i can hit the OD button and still don't shift. plus my front seal is gone so i do believe it burned up. but i will check the solenoid. thanks for your help.

From what you said I think you should also check your kick down linkage, that stuck open can make your trans keep to high of a pressure to want to shift to the next gear or do it at a very high RPM. Like I stated in the first reply, the OD is engaged by an electronic mechanisim so if it goes bad it wont go to OD at all.
Again, good luck.

Rhino21,
Try inflating your left rear tire to 40 psi... sometimes if it's at the recommended 35 psi, it won't start.

ouch nice one josh!! speaking of trannys. my kickdown cable stuck on me once, talk about a scary ride!! i drove for about a mile at 45, until i could find a place to pull over and check under the hood (always my first instinct even if my rear end craps out lol)
The cable had alot of slack in it, so with the truck off i mashed the pedal about 3 or 4 times and it came loose.. boy was i relieved!!

I re calibrated it the other day, it shifts alot better now. i had it adjusted a little tight, so i would have firmer shifts. But it would over-rev in between gears nad hang for a second (under WOT accel). i thought my tranny was slipping!!!! phew glad thats all over!

So after recalibrating the cable, you're tranny is completely normal again? Awesome! Sorry I never replied to your 2nd email. I had some technical difficulties as a result of a corrupted file while upgrading some stuff and had to format my harddrive for like the 2nd time in a week. At least this time I had everything backed up...lol.

I had a problem once where mine wouldn't go into overdrive. I had just driven about 1,000 miles. During the trip, it had trouble going into overdrive and for the last few hundred, it wouldn't go into overdrive at all. I took it to a dealer near where I was staying. They said it needed new solenoids. I was low on money so I had them try the Wynn's chemical tranny flush. Well, it's been about 20k miles now and haven't had a problem since. The flush really did the trick.

Awww sh!t...hey man... sorry for totally insulting your intelligence. I know you're smart enough to figure out it's not your air pressure and I guess your post IS related to this thread. If you replace your overdrive solenoid, your truck should start right up. Them damn tranny's loooove to f--- up a good truck. Heh... now I feel like a freaking moron.
TSB on overdrive solenoids causing problems starting

Honestly, no.

Of course, I'll be getting paid to sit on my fat ass working on my computer starting next Monday so I consider that good enough usage of my time.

I already got it...lol. Definitely can't argue with that. I'm a computer geek so it's nice to finally get paid to do what I do almost every minute I'm not in school (unless I have money to work on my truck or my friend is free so we can go four-wheeling out at his grandpa's).
