I was go to buy a fastman TB but then i was reading a post about people just takeing there TB a machine shop and haveing them milled off and bored out. and i ask my dad if he could do it for me because he was a machinest and has a milling machine. So my ? is the fastman TB a strait through 46mm or a tapered like the factory tb. also do you think that i should do that to a stock v6 body. or should i mill the top off of a v8 will i lose any low end if i do the milled top v8 tb, than with the v8 stock. or sould i just bore and mill the v6 to 46mm.

If you use a V8 body use as is no mods it will
flow around 635cfm

The F&B is 48mm and flows 660cfm

The fastman is just a stock body bored to 46mm, as
long as your dad can make some new throttle plates
yes he could indicate the bores with a dial
indicator in a mill and use a boreing head and
bore them out, there is no taper (torque step) in
the fastman or the F&B

The Dakota V6's came with 3 diff size bodies
depending what was on the shelf when the truck was
built.

42mm with 40 mm step
44mm with 42mm step
46mm with 44mm step

I had a 1993 Dak v6 sport 5 speed that had a 46
with a 44mm step and have only see a very few of
the bigger bodies

If you have the 44 or 46 and just remove the taper
(torque step) and horns and just leave 2 tabs on
the outer area for air hat filter locating you
will notice some nice gains just from doing that
to a V6 body

You could also just get a set of throttle plates
46mm from Dan (the fastman) and than bore and use
the bigger plats.

If you go V8 don't do anything to it bolt on as is
your low end will remain the same with mid and top
gains,

A moded V6, fastman or F&B also offer off idle
low end gains that the V8 body does not

Hope that helps you decide

some pics of a moded body here

This is the first body I modded off my 95 4X4
and it helped a lot

If he does bore it be sure he indicates it where
the bore is for the throttle plates
