I`ve been trying to find out what kind of intake system(if any) I can put on my 89 dak. Its a 3.9 and I figure it must be a waste of time because no one has yet to answer. When I`m on e-bay there all for 98 model or newer. Is this a good idea, putting an air intake on this old of a model? I`m not a mechanic so I really have no idea. What other mods are there for an 89 dak???
Sorry if this is a stupid question!!
And if it matters, my dak has throttle body.

There's very little out there for the pre-Magnum V6. Magnum Performance, KRC Performance, and Mopar Performance are the places to look. Also, the Magnum intake manifolds will not fit the LA V6 unless you go for a Magnum head swap as well...yes, a total topside swap will essentially turn your wheezer into a Magnum V6, which opens the door to more performance parts. This is a good deal if you need new heads, or a total rebuild.
Wait...air intake....do you mean intake manifold or the plastic tubing that routes air to the engine? Regardless, a cooler air charge can only help.

I was more thinking of more cold air intake into the engine. Really I`m just trying to figure out where I should start with some mods. I`m finally in the position to start the project. I`m going to add mods over time. So you think I should put on some magnum heads. Sounds like some work. What all is involved in doing this?

Ahhhh, kinda got off on a tangent. Going to the Magnum heads would require some computer upgrades, at least a chip, or a 360 TBI with PCM to support an instant 40hp increase that would come with the Magnum heads, or the matching Magnum PCM with the Magnum MPI. But, to answer, Magnum heads with rocker gear, Magnum intake (for carb/TBI or go the MPI route), Mopar Performance sells the pushrods for this swap. Your lifters are probably already "oilers," but they need to be changed if not. Your stock cam will seem larger since the Magnum rockers are 1.6:1.
You could save a lot of hassle if you just got your stock heads nicely ported and got a 3-angle valve job. Throw on some 1.6:1 roller rockers. That'd gain most of the power of a Magnum head swap, while saving a lot of swap time and costs unless you're dead-set on living in the Magnum world. It much easier to get better upgrades for the Magnums in the electronic world.

So I could stay with the TBI, But I would need a bigger? and a new PCM (is this a computer chip?).Whats the MPI?? Sorry for asking so many questions but I`m really excited about this. Are these parts expensive are they?

And what did you meen the cam well seem larger? and either way I would need 1:6:1 roller rockers. Not to sure what that ratio refers too..
