 Subject: What GEN is my truck?

How do you know what gen your truck is, I have a 1990 dak ext.cab with 3.9, also I would like to know, can anybody tell me what diameter the exhaust would be and also what the gear ratio would be, everything is stock.

Thats a 4th gen dak being a 1990.
Stock exhaust is 2 12/32's
stock gears are 4.56:1's

I'm not sure myself, but I saw this on another
message board...
GEN 1 = 87-90
GEN 2 = 91-96
Gen 3 = 97-04

Yep, its a gen 1. The Gen 2 body style started in '91, however, the '91 has the Throttle Body Injection (TBI) fuel injection (i.e. 125 hp, same as yours). In 1992 they went to the multi port fuel injection hp jumped to 175 or 180. Another funny thing, some of the 1991 models have sealed beam headlights, like mine, but at some point they went away from that. The above post breaks out the generations correctly, from what I know.

how do you figure a '90 is a gen 4 when only 3 exist? the tallest gears, ever, stock are the 3.9's available as a factory option, never ever had 4.56 stock esp with 14 inch wheels that were stock in 90 that would mean turnin almost 3600 rpm at 60 mph with a 4200 redline, top end would only be about 67 mph.

1990 is the 4th year the daks had been produced...but as said above, not the 4th generation.

Well, you are wrong this time, 1990 is first gen, new body style came out in 1992 and ran through 1996. Third gen.is 1997 to 2004.

Uh wait a minute, I was mistaken, they did not change the body style in 1992, but they came out with the Magnum engine that year. The body style did not change till 1997. Go to Wikipedia and punch up Chrysler LA engine, it gives a lot of info.
