 Subject: Pollution Pump Problems

Just wondering if somebody could help me with a pollution pump problem. When I had my engine rebuilt we tried leaving the polution pump off and plugging the lines, however it cause the computer to go all messed up and the truck would not run properly. I know all you have to do is take the belt off, which is what i am doing now, but i was wondering if there was a way to actually remove it without the computer messing up?
