Wow that's a great time considering the few mods you have. I'm

I forgot that I also have 180* thermostat, fms 19 lb injectors, and a recycled electric fan. Another thing that may be contributing is the larger early magnum exhaust manifolds with the 2 ½ dia. outlets into a flowmaster 40 split dual exhaust. If it wasn’t any faster it sure made it louder. Lastly, the engine was at about 170k miles, and looser tolerances my have helped reduce parasitic drag, lol.

Okay don’t flame me for this one, I know what pipe diameter everyone says works best, this was done by the local muffler shop. The Y pipe is 2 ½ on each manifold (with horrible factory clearance dents at no extra charge) dumping into the 3 inch pipe in and out of the converter, this was the setup for early magnums. The flowmaster is 3inch in dual 2 ½ out and pre-bent over the axle pipes were “tweaked” to fit my truck. I think the pipes were intended for the ram, it was something that they had in stock.

yea whats every one "says" works the best but in truth the fastest trucks on the v6 board are running 3 inch exhuast. did they change the y pipe size or did it come 2 1/2 inch from the factory and how does your truck sound? at a 16.1 your one of the fastest trucks on the v6 boards

3 inch after the Y is factory for 92 and from what I understand 93 also. The biggest issue comes from using dual 2 1/2 after the muffler, this causes the most discussion. As for sound, it’s ok,not for everyone but loud enough to wake the neighbor’s grandbaby, woops. Not to be pessimistic but the V6 will never match the V8 for overall sound quality. This setup offers a good aggressive tone at idle and low rpm, but above 3500 rpm the tone goes a little flat and becomes more like the viper in raspyness (both have an odd number of cylinders per head). I am fortunate to lack the cruise “cab drone” that has plagued so many with this combination.I guess the biggest shocker came from being consistent, all I wanted to do was get in a few runs and go home. The medics working the timing booth were cheering me on.

How is 16.1 one of the fastest times, I could almost do that stock with my 2WD 93 RC 5spd. The GenII's will run mid to low 16's stock. I need to get back to the track now that I have lots of mods on the truck.

Your automatic must be really hurting you. A convertor and shift kit would do wonders. I used to have a 93 3.9 5speed rc dak. With a cat back exhaust, fastman tb, mopar pcm, under drive crank pulley, and an open element air filter the truck would go 15.3's at 89mph. Thats with a factory 3.55 suregrip and 235/70/15 tires

I feel that it may be holding back better times. I have a different torque converter and a transgo kit waiting to be installed, I hope to do so soon. My first runs before many of the modifications were high 16's , remember automatics are never 100% efficient.

Manuels are never 100% efficient either. Both hve driveline losses. I was just comparing your times a simularly equipped 5speed truck. the trans go and convertor should make a big difference
