Hey Stumpy, I've looked into supercharging my 2000 3.9L as well. From what I have read and understood you can buy any kit for the 5.2L or 5.9L Dakotas and modify the tubes to fit your truck. But the down side to supercharging is that stress and ware are put on the motor at all times and to make good power you have to run a good amount of boost and that puts even more stress on the motor. I'm going the nitrous rout with my truck because the nitrous puts stress on the motor only when used not all the time like a supercharger and it's a h*ll of a lot cheaper. Also one more thing chicks dig bottles, they know what it does. Hope this helps:)

Going the cheap rode is not what you want to do with a blower. Save the cash and get a paxton and a blower flash for your PCM. Also be prepared to either not run a huge amount of boost or be rebuilding your bottom end with forged pistons. Running either NO2 or Boost, I'm willing to bet you will break your engine. Just too tempting to push it a few extra pounds.

The paxton should fit. Uses it's own belt and is plumbed through a billet airhat. Only mod I can think of is in the fuel delivery. I'm sure if you talked with Paxton they could tell you exactly what you needed to do

where is this V6 with the only power adder being a s/c running 13s?

fastest i have seen/heard/read about was 15.1 with only the s/c (plus other standard bolt ons)

i have seen/heard/read of several nitrous assisted s/c'ed V6 running 14's (bernd, sivlerdakota, someone else.. cant remember name)

now i know that's not everybody out there but please post up!

I ran a s/c on my V6... no comparison

6.6 Lt. Big Block, 727 TF shift kit, 452 heads, edelbrock 750 cfm, .513/.513 284/300 crower cam, comp cams springs, comp cams pushrods, 1.5 roller rockers, dp intake, mopar ignition, mopar windage tray, dual exhaust w/ 40 series flowmasters, 4.10 gears, coilover drag suspension, approx, 3500 lbs

never ran it at the track. I was seriously too embarrassed to do so. It sounded supercharged, it looked supercharged... just didnt "go" supercharged. I seriously had that thing on my truck for 2 weeks and pulled it off. Modified my intake manifold after that and honestly couldnt even tell the difference from not having it on before.

Intense how did the turbo work out for you when you had it on the truck? Did you have to wind up changing your fuel pump or ignition system? Do you think it was too much stress on the motor and transmission? Why did you wind up taking it off??

greg,

the best you stated before you enlisted was like a 15.7. Have you run it again? I remember greg talking about you blowing off your airhat on one run down the 1/4 with the s/c.

I know dodgeboy went low 15's n/a but his motor intales a lot more work and a lighter truck.

Yea, he went 15 flat at around 88mph or so at cecil. It went 15.8's then the superchips tuner knocked it down to 15.4's. We then added a mandrel bent y pipe, and full 3in exhaust with no cat and some kinda crazy loud 3in muffler. that took it to a 15flat. If he would of taken a sh!t before that run it would of went 14's it was so close. The blower was put on right after those runs.

I did go low 15's n/a aswell but with major issues. Truck had 14's in it no problem after I tweaked the safcII to get rid of the horrid rich condition. The difference was like night and day. Some much better numbers will bee seen this year for both trucks..
