Subject: Spongy Brake Pedal....

But only after being stopped for around 10 - 20 seconds.

The brakes work fine in stoping the truck (1990 Dakota 4 X 4). Then, after sitting at a stop light for around 10 seconds or more, the pedal starts to slowly inch it's way to the floor. If I release and re-engage it goes through the same cycle, nice firm pedal at first, but then slowly towards the floor after some time passes.

The front and rear brakes have been redone recently, I bled them again to make sure all air was out, the master cylinder is only a year old...I am suspecting the RWAL control valve after seeing a TSB that resembled the problem.

Any other ideas?? my back-up plan is that the Master Cylinder has failed again.

Thanks in advance.....and yes, the Brake and RWAL lights come on on the dash, but then go out after I recycle the brake pedal......no fluid leaks either.

Yes , sounds like master fail again
especially if no leaks=no fluid loss ..

Sounds like a brake master cylinder to me, I replaced the one on my 91 last year, exact same symptoms. Stopped fine, but brake pedal slowly would fall to the floor and kick on the brake /RAWL light at a stop sign/light. Pump it and light goes off and pressure returns, only to drop again afer a few moments. Pretty easy fix, just be sure to bleed all of the air out the lines when your done.
