My 3.9 sounds like a flock of birds on cold starts. Just broke 50k miles on my 99. Anyone
had this problem. Also ready for front pads.
Dustless (tired of cleaning wheels every 3 or 4 days). Raybestos or Ceramix what do you think.

It might be your serpentine belt. I waited till about 80K miles with that noise when it was cold...changed the belt and all was quiet. Good Luck!!

I have a 99 that makes the same noise it gets better when the engine warms up I hope its just the belt. Also I put the dustless Raybestos Pads on my Grand Prix GTP they aren't too bad I Still get dust and they still make noise not as bad as semi metallic though.

Could be the tensioner. Had mine replaced at 50000km be cause it seized up. At your mileages I agree with Pyrodak it's probably your belt, Thats when I had mine replaced.

I seem to have a clattering in my engine when the engine is idling. Mechanic said it could be the tensioner, another said it's the lifters. Anyone have this problem?
