depends on how much lift,2-3"s your pretty save,
but you,ll want to check your 4x4 shifter to make sure it is not hitting the floor board in 2wd or you,ll have transfer problems

lucas,

i've got a 91 dak with the v8 318 in er, trying to feed her a little more oxygen.

would you be able to describe the "recipe" you used for the ram air intake you did on your 3.9?

Appreciate it,

I have a '89 Dodge Dakota. It won't stay in park.
Everyone tells me it needs a new tranny? Has anyone else had this problem? Did you have to put in a new tranny?

Beverly, when you put the shifter in park does it jump into reverse? will it stay in park if you hold the shifter in Park?
I wouldn't think there is a problem with the trans, just the linkage needing to be ajusted.
I have a 5speed in mine so I haven't had many dealings with the auto trans. Although I have rebuilt an Olds frontwheel drive trans once, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would have been, and worked great after I was finished.
When you put the shifter in D does the shift indecator show D, or a little off? Another thing, can you start the engine in N ?
If so I would use the parking brake, and use N.
I like an easy fix though.
Good Luck

Okay, so I have a 1990 Dodge Dakota Sport 4X4 standard. I've been looking everywhere, and haven't been able to find a somewhat affordable lift kit. I see a lot of 91' and 89's. Those are the closest I can get. But I have been told that I need the exact year of my truck to put in the right lift. Help me out here.

Thanks - Teej

you can get a body lift and thats it
unless you want to do alot of work and adapt a 91 to your 90, but it would be cheaper/easier to do a solid axle swap

as to the topic of this question, the pre-mag 3.9s were ALL slow and useless for anything but moving the truck around at a slow pace

This may sound dumb, what whats the difference between a body lift, and a regular lift..Isn't a regular lift putting in bigger suspension, tires, leafs? And what does a body lift do/look like? Ya ya I know, I'm dumb haha. Just wondering.

I would run the VIN number and see what happens. Evidently, you are not the original owner. Chances are it is a '90 model with an engine swap done by a previous owner.
