Subject: Plugs Cap Rotor..Mileage?
IP: Logged

Message:
I recently did a tune up on the 'ol Dak. Cleaned the throttle body and IAC, changed the plugs(3923's) the cap and rotor (NAPA Brass), and wires (NAPA 7mm). First tank of fuel since the tuneup, and my mileage went from 14.9 mpg in town to 18.3mpg in town!! Anyone else notice this kind of change? I think it is great. . Also, the truck is more responsive, and idles much better. Thanks Wadak and Larry for the help. Next up, 180 t-stat and homebrew intake.

The thing that made the biggest difference most likey was cleaning the TB and the IAC. The 180 t-stat is going to drop your MPG back about 2 mpg. Engine will have more performance though. If you like the performance gains but want to keep up your mpg, get a Jet stage II chip. It will keep your MPG up and no you do not need to run hitest. I have been running mid-grade with mine for a year now.

that jet stage 2 chip requires use of at least 89 (mid grade) fuel
so keep in mind the extra hit in the wallet when running that
chip unless you like driving with pinging

BULL

I am running a stage 2 and 4 degree crank sensor
advance on regular fuel and getting great mileage
and performance

22 23mpg in a 95 4X4 92 motor with all the bolt ons

The stage 2 chips will show anywhere from 1 to 3
mpg gain
