 Subject: Big rain now truck is running rough

Ok, very heavy rain this morning and flooding. Truck was going into some big runoff water areas and almost to work and it started to idle rough and feel like it was not running on all 6 cylinders. Also check engine light came on. Do you think it was just flooded out?

Sounds like water in the distributor. Pop the cap and dry it off put it back on then start the truck let it idle for 15 to 20 minutes or so.

Yeah, that is what I am hoping for. Now the check engine light is on so gonna have to use the code reader to clear it?

You can probably go to autozone and have them read and clear it. The local one does it for free.

You dont say what year truck you have (the engine computers are different after 95) but the answer is the same: the check engine light will eventually go off after many starts (as long as the problem is resolved) or, disconnect the battery for 30 seconds. Or, go to Autozone and find out what the code is.

The light went off this morning and it has been running like normal after about lunch time yesterday. : )
