I have a 92 v6 my fan came off and puntured a hole in my radiator. I was able to screw the fan back on and now i am replacing the radiator but what would make the hole fan just come unscrewed like it did.

Well as long as you got it off why not install an electric fan?

Buck, I kinda agree with uh. There's no reason the fan should come off and I'm sure you would have noticed the vibration before it completely seperated from pulley. I know I've had my share of inconsiderate people messing with my vehicle in the past.
This is a lousey thing to happen to you. Just keep an eye on your fan for the next few weeks and see if it happens again. Lightening DOES strike twice!

use locktite on the threads when you put it back on. and check periodically. pretty strange. that's a new one! unless someone did work on it recently. (water pump perhaps?)

Thanks guys..... The water pump went out and some how caused the fan to unscrew itself... there no preventive maintainence for that!

I wouldnt use loctite on it....They are hard enough to get off as it is. The water pump must have frozen up to cause the fan to come off. I usually just start the fan on the threads when I am installing a water pump and start the truck...The fan will tighten itself. There isnt much preventative maintence for a fan assembly....The only thing that COULD happen is the bolts that hold the fan to the clutch could come off. Other than that the clutch will never be loose....It will either be on or off....No in between
